The Koppers Family Tradition Continues to Grow with Music & Lights
|
The Story:
For the past eleven years, The Koppers Family hosts the Lights on Plainview Drive up during the Christmas holiday season. In 2020, there is a new interactive display with Santa Claus in his workshop. You can press the button to see Santa dance and talk; if you visit the 'select a song' button, the Grinch will light up and dance. In 2018, the display had over 40,000 lights, eight continuous songs on 64 channels, and a 6400 light 25' mega tree. To add to the amazing musical light display, guest appearances are anticipated by Mr. & Mrs. Santa Claus, the Grinch, Anna and Elsa. In December 2012 and January 2013, the Herald News featured a story on the Koppers' Family. The reason: to spread holiday joy despite the death of a losing the fight to cancer. The Koppers' have an eleven year old son, who at the time of his grandfather's (Papa John) death, was only two. To Kristen, the holiday season would not have been so joyous if it wasn't for her husband who created a magical music light show. Instead of the holidays seeming bleak, they were filled with lights, music, family, and friends. With the passing of Kristen's father, the holidays were not going to the same. As each year goes by, Kristopher creates a spectacular display than the year before. In addition, there are new displays that are added every year. If you've come out in previous years, you'll notice a few add-ons throughout the display. The music light show will officially begin November 23, 2023, with the first ever opening night of the lights and will to continue to run through New Years Day weekend. Even though it may be cold outside, it won’t stop our holiday cheer. If the weather becomes too cold to listen to the show, there is a radio station that you can tune in to while listening from inside the warmth of your car. |
